Our History

Our roots began as a small local commercial cleaning company started in 1951 by Warren and Millie Armstrong. At the same time, they also owned and ran a successful pest control business. Warren and Millie were definitely entrepreneurs at heart!

They were successful for many years running both the pest control business, Armstrong Pest Control, and the commercial cleaning company, Armstrong Building Maintenance, side-by-side. During this time, Warren and Millie grew the commercial contract cleaning business throughout the greater Albuquerque and Santa Fe area, and surrounding regions.

Built on a "consistent-touch" customer management approach, where each client is cared for AND VISITED by a specific set of management and staff every single week, the cleaning business continued to grow. 

After college and a career in Southern California, their daughter Sharon returned to Albuquerque with her husband, Don Crismore. Working together with Warren and Millie for several years, they learned the ins and outs of the commercial cleaning industry. 

In 1978, Don and Sharon purchased the cleaning company from Warren and Millie, rebranding it Maintenance Service Systems, Inc. They worked diligently together, along with stellar management and staff, to grow the business even larger and expand commercial cleaning service offerings to Santa Fe, Rio Rancho, Las Cruces, and the entire state of New Mexico, as well as Corpus Christi and El Paso, Texas, and Phoenix, Arizona. At one point, we even had an office in Hawaii for a few years! Crazy! While we are proud of the many locations we have been blessed to run over the years, we ultimately decided we would hyper-focus on serving our local home...the New Mexico community.

We are still proudly managed and run by the same family, in the form of Don and Sharon's children, Kim, Shawn and Wendy Crismore, along with a first-rate administrative and management staff, and a cleaning and floor service staff of almost 300 employees. We continue to service the entire state of New Mexico, and have maintained numerous clients that were first introduced to our company through Don and Sharon many years ago. We pride ourselves on maintaining all those long-term clients, while continuing to build our client base with new customers.

Maintenance Services Systems is clearly an integral part of our family's legacy, and we continue to push forward to build new business, as well as maintain the long term clientele we have been fortunate enough to retain, in honor our parent's and grandparent's legacies. Customers are truly like family to us!
